In a decisive move to strengthen regional security, Police Chief Eastern Region, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police Francis Brima Meinday, outlined an ambitious strategic plan during a high-level meeting with local unit commanders, signalling a renewed focus on community safety and crime prevention.
The meeting, expertly facilitated by Regional Media Officer East, Sub-Inspector Brima James Musa, set the tone for an intensified push toward safer community.
Leaders from every division delivered frank updates on pressing issues from personnel shortages to ongoing community engagement efforts, highlighting a collective desire to turn the tide on rising security challenges.
The commanders shared progress on intelligence-led raids, community patrols, and operational plans aligned with the ambitious Strategic Development Plan 2025-2029.
Superintendent Thaima Balie Sesay, Kailahun’s Local Unit Commander, reported promising results from joint operations in Yenga, revealing that peace and stability are gradually returning to the community.
Conversely, CSP Mohamed Turay of Motema painted a more tense picture, warning of ongoing unrest in Kono linked to Koidu Holding Limited’s challenges, and calling for heightened vigilance.
In his inaugural address, AIG Francis Brima Meinday delivered a rallying cry to unify and energize officers. He urged close collaboration with Task and Coordinating Groups (TCGs) and Local Policing Partnership Boards (LPPBs) to maximize impact.
Stressing discipline and accountability, he emphasized the importance of meticulous documentation and strict adherence to the Strategic Development Plan.
On the fight against narcotics, AIG Meinday ordered regular raids based strictly on actionable intelligence—aiming to strike hard while minimizing collateral damage. He also announced plans for an upcoming divisional tour to meet key stakeholders and reinforce community-centred policing.
The session closed on a confident note, with commanders pledging unwavering commitment to delivering tailored, effective security services that meet the needs of their communities.
The region’s security outlook now appears poised for a renewed and strategic push forward.
