Police Tighten Security Around Moeba Community as Rival “Beef” Turns Violent

By FS/C4D

A local “beef” has crossed the line from a rivalry into a public-order concern, following violent confrontations between rival groups in and around Sesaylane Kamanda Farm sometime last week. What may have started as a localised dispute has reportedly escalated into clashes that have raised concerns among residents about safety, security and the potential for further violence if left unchecked.

The Sierra Leone Police, working with youth and community authorities, have intensified security measures around Sesaylane Kamanda Farm Junction as efforts continue to prevent further violence, protect residents and restore calm.

The heightened security response follows a series of reported confrontations involving two groups identified by community members as “Clique Groups.” One group is reportedly associated with Fisher Lane, commonly referred to as Black Drug, while the other is based in Moeba Community.

According to community accounts, the groups have been involved in an ongoing dispute, locally described as a “beef.” Repeated confrontations have reportedly created fear, tension and unrest among residents of Fisher Lane, Moeba Community and surrounding areas.

Community members have also reported the use of dangerous weapons, including cutlasses and other harmful objects, during some of the confrontations, raising serious concerns about public safety.

The situation reportedly escalated on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, when a serious confrontation broke out between the rival groups.

The Sierra Leone Police intervened to prevent the situation from escalating further and to restore calm in the affected communities.

On Wednesday night, September 23, 2026, police reportedly conducted a security operation targeting locations allegedly being used as gathering points by members of the groups.

The operation reportedly included the dismantling of the Black Drug seating area at Fisher Lane and the Kamanda Farm long bench, which community members said had been used as gathering points.

The police intervention has since been followed by increased security supervision in the affected areas.

In response to the developments, youth from Sesaylane and Kamanda Farm, in collaboration with the police, have embarked on a public awareness and warning campaign.

The initiative is aimed at discouraging unlawful gatherings, drug-related activities, violent confrontations and other behaviour that could threaten public safety.

Community leaders and youth representatives are also urging residents to avoid involvement in rival group activities and to cooperate with law enforcement authorities.

Both Moeba Community and Fisher Lane are reportedly under increased police supervision as authorities work to prevent further clashes.

The Local Unit Commander of Ross Road Police Station has assured residents that the police are closely monitoring the situation.

The LUC also reportedly confirmed that a significant number of individuals allegedly associated with the Black Drug group are currently in police custody.

The increased police presence is intended to deter further violence

The Sesaylane Kamanda Fram community, working with the Sierra Leone Police, has issued a strong warning against unlawful gatherings, the sale and use of illegal drugs, violent confrontations and any other activities capable of threatening public safety.

Residents and visitors have been urged to conduct themselves responsibly, respect the law and avoid activities that could trigger further conflict.

The public is also encouraged to report suspicious activities and provide information that could assist the police and community authorities in preventing crime and violence.

Youth and community authorities in Sesaylane and Kamanda Fram have reaffirmed their commitment to working with the Sierra Leone Police to maintain a peaceful and secure environment.

Residents of Moeba Community, Fisher Lane, Sesaylane, Kamanda Fram and surrounding areas are being urged to reject violence, stay away from rivalries and support efforts aimed at restoring lasting peace.

The latest developments also highlight the importance of cooperation between communities and law enforcement in addressing local disputes before they escalate into wider threats to public safety.

“Community safety is a shared responsibility. Preventing violence requires cooperation between residents, young people, community leaders and law enforcement.”
