DIB MOVEMENT WINS 7 OUT OF 9 APC CONSTITUENCIES IN KONO AS MAXWELL AND KONOMANYI ENDORSE DR. IBRAHIM BANGURA

By Nelson Adebayo Johnson

Leaders of the Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, DIB, movement in Kono District have pledged full support for Dr. Bangura ahead of the APC flagbearer contest, citing strong results in the party’s just concluded internal elections.

Aiah Maxwell Konoekor and Madam Diana Konomanyi made the statement during an engagement they had with Dr. Ibrahim Bangura at his Secretariat Headquarters in Wilberforce, Freetown.

Addressing Dr. Bangura, Maxwell said the DIB movement secured 7 out of 9 constituencies in Kono District in the recent APC internal elections.

“With the massive support from my people, DIB will continue to lead the entire Kono District,” Maxwell said.

He said the 7 constituencies were previously aligned with former Vice President Alhaji Samuel Sam-Sumana.

Maxwell also stated that the remaining 2 constituencies have been set by the party for re-elections. He expressed confidence that the DIB movement will win those seats.

“We are sure that we as a DIB movement in Kono will also win those constituencies,” he said.

APC lost significant support in Kono District in past elections. Party members attribute the decline to some politicians in the district supporting other political parties, which affected party structures at the grassroots level.

Leaders at the meeting said efforts are now focused on rebuilding the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Maxwell told Dr. Bangura that voters in Kono are prioritizing leadership and development over family ties.

“We the people of Kono will not cast our vote due to sentiment of family affiliation but to work with someone who has the country and Kono District at heart,” he said.

Maxwell disclosed that arrangements are being made for a public declaration in support of Dr. Ibrahim Bangura in Kono.

“As of now we have hundreds of grassroots and leaders in Kono that are willing to do a public declaration for Dr. Ibrahim Bangura in no time very soon,” he stated.

He also acknowledged the work of Madam Diana Konomanyi in mobilizing party members in the district.

“The people of Kono do appreciate the work put by myself as the Giant of politics in the East in Kono District and the Iron Lady Madam Diana Konomanyi,” Maxwell said.

Dr. Ibrahim Bangura is one of the aspirants seeking to become the APC flagbearer for the 2028 presidential election.

The APC National Secretariat is yet to announce dates for the re-elections in the 2 outstanding constituencies in Kono.
